Earthquake & Life As It Is

So, what an eventful morning! Norman and the OKC metro area just experienced an "active" earthquake! We actually have earthquakes quite frequently, but we usually never feel them. It was reported that it was a 4.5 magnitude, which if we compared it to the one in Haiti, that was a 7.0 magnitude. Kind of crazy to think about, the what if's...

It's a little ironic how I have not posted a blog in a while, but I happened to have the page opened up during the earthquake. I have been thinking about my future and where I'm headed. At this point in time, all I know is where I'll be on December 18th. I'll be walking in a black gown with a black cap and tassel on my head while receiving a fake diploma that will mean more than anything. (Of course the real diploma will be mailed a couple months later) After December, I will be attending grad school at OU in the Human Relations. My plan is to find a full-time job as well with taking classes for my masters part-time.

Recently, the heated question that I have been asked is "What are you doing after you graduate?" or "What kind of job are you looking for?" There's only so much I can say besides finding a job and furthering my education. That's all I can answer. I've really been praying a lot and trying to figure out where exactly my life is going. I have had a few break downs, only because I have never been so clueless and kind of scared about what I'm doing with my life. I'm the type of person who likes to have a plan and somewhat know what I'm doing during the day/week. I've heard what I'm going through is normal, but there's only two other people who have gone through this experience.

Things will happen unexpectedly and will be dealt in one way or another. When thinking about my future, I think of what I love to do and what I do that makes me the happiest. I keep remember the time I had in Toronto working with UrbanPromise for only a week. Waking up at 6:15 every morning and not getting to sleep until at least midnight or later every night.
I've already been on the watch for any full-time jobs in non-profit for the time being since I'm kind of stuck in Oklahoma until I finish my masters. But, I think someday it would be an awesome opportunity to work for Teach for America.

Until then, I will continue to pray and figure things out, but to also keep my mind and heart open to anything that could come my way.
Love.

  1. I remember doing the same thing before finishing school. It's weird to know exactly what you'll be doing for the first 20 something years of your life and then have to start making plans and real choices! I'm sure you'll find something that is a good fit for you. :)
